The Japanese Surrender of the Philippines



In this picture of the Japanese surrender at Baguio, Philippine Islands, General Wainwright is seated on the far left.  Next to him, from left to right are: Lt. Gen. W. D. Styer, Maj. Gen. Edmund S. Leavey, Lt. Gen, Arthur E. Percival, British Commander of Singapore, Maj. Gen. Wood, and Maj. Gen. Robert Beightler.  On the opposite side of the table is Gen. Tomoyuki Yahmashita, Commander of the Japanese Forces in the Philippines.

The surrender ceremony took place on September 3, 1945.
